In an age when information systems are being disrupted by global acceleration and systemic change, a new framework must be elaborated collectively. Today’s responses, too often isolated and fragmented, are no longer equal to the challenges at hand.
Media, research, technology, culture, and philanthropy each evolve according to their own logic, often advancing in parallel. We lack a collective, structured space for reflection, dialogue, and experimentation.
The Foundation was conceived to make such an ecosystem possible. It brings together complementary voices - journalists, researchers, artists, associations, citizens and philanthropic actors - and transforms La Tour into a place where new practices can be thought, tested, and diffused.
At the crossroads of social, cultural and technological forces, the Foundation fosters cohabitation and interdisciplinary collaboration, supporting the rise of collective intelligence. It works, directly and indirectly, for the integrity of information and democratic debate.
Conceived as a place of mutual exchange, the Foundation seeks to rethink the relationship between information, society, and democracy through constant dialogue with those it brings together and those around it - both within la Tour and beyond its walls.
The three pillars of the Foundation
Development
To rethink the future of information, the Foundation brings together residents from diverse fields and supports independent research projects, technological innovation, and citizen initiatives.
Residents include RTS, Le Temps, Heidi.news, the Swiss-Romandy branch of the Media Forward Fund, the University of Geneva’s Media and Philanthropy Initiative, the new think tank Prospera, Swiss Solidarity, the Swiss Press Club, The Conversation, the Certify platform, La Farce, Et Pk pas ?, as well as independent information creators.
The aim is to stimulate interaction between these actors for new interdisciplinary practices to emerge, particularly around the impact of information and philanthropic funding models.
From summer 2026
Destination
In a time marked by growing individualization, the Foundation opens La Tour to the public: an accessible ground floor, lively outdoor spaces, a café and restaurant open to the neighborhood, community organizations, and cultural events.
This place aims to strengthen social bonds and welcome multiple identities and generations, in an inclusive space with diverse social experiences.
From fall 2027
Diffusion
Faced with the need to rebuild shared narratives, the Foundation turns the very architecture of La Tour into an artistic medium for dialogue. Inside and out, projections, installations, and creative interventions invite reflection on contemporary issues, in resonance with the Foundation’s mission.
From autumn 2026
Putting an urban landmark at the service of democratic integrity
By transforming La Tour and cultivating a dynamic ecosystem around this iconic building, the Foundation creates a vibrant place rooted in its local territory. The transformation will unfold in phases, with new uses, programs, and residents gradually taking shape from September 2026 onwards.
